Both Cory Cats Died

Best thing to do for now is test your tap nitrate reading this way we will know what the reading should be.

i'd just get some marineland bio-spira and dump some into the tank to make it safe for the fish.

daily 15% water changes will also help get things back under control.

as for Valentines: don't get any new fish! not only will more fish make your water quality even worse, if they're "special" or "rare", then they're probably more delicate than dirt-common fish. which means that they're more likely to suffer and die as a result of dirty water.

if you can, try placing the special fish on reserve until the NitrIte levels have gone back down to 0. or if that isn't possible, just give her a gift certificate and a promise to spend a special afternoon picking out the perfect fish for her tank. (i'm a girlfriend and the promise of "special time spent shopping together" is always a good present :good:)
