Bosemani Rainbowfish Behaviour

With rainbows foley, it is best for a 50% at least once a week, they do like very clean water and low nitrAtes.

Ammonia is 0, Nitrites are 0 and Nitrates are 10. pH is about 7.9.

The strange swimming up and down behaviour has all but stopped now so I guess it was linked to stress from being placed in a new tank.

Although I don't have any other tanks at the moment, I may be able to get a bigger (deeper and slightly wider) tank if I move the current tank into another room and put the new tank where my current tank is at the moment. If I can do this I will certainly move this Bosemani (and 3 or 4 new Bosemani Rainbowfish) into the new tank once it has cycled.

If you're going for a small shoal I'd recommend a tank that's at least 250L. A nice 4 footer...the longer the beter really :D

Just another quick question relating to this if I may...

Would my Bosemani Rainbowfish benefit from the company of some other Rainbowfish i.e. Dwarf Neons or would this just be pointless?

Thanks,
Dan

Pointless really, whilst the larger species of rainbows may shoal together out of necessity of their own species, they dont tend to with the dwarf of the species. My boes stick together, my lacustris stick together, the trifasciata will shoal with anything strangely, the praecox (dwarfs) stick together. Thats just my observation of course with all of mine, others may have seen different behaviours with theres.

all rainbowfish need to be kept in groups. They will live happily with other types of rainbow, but male boesemani can be a little pushy so they should be kept with rainbows that grow to a similar size. M. praecox don't get big enough to be happy with a boesemani.
M. lacustris are a blue rainbow that will be fine with the boesemani. However, don't add any more rainbows until you get the bigger tank.
