Maybe i'm doing it wrong? i said they are weaker than Bolivians.

Bolivians are good begginer fish, Apistos and Rams are for more experienced, thats my advice, mock it all you want.

If i was mocking i would't have put a smiley next to it so relax ;) as a breeder i disgree that all, any way we digress

@op have settled on which type of apisto you want for sure? where abouts do you live?

What you disagree Apisto's are weaker than Bolivian Rams? because thats all i stated, Breeder or not, i have 15+ years experience with Cichlids and have bred over 30+ different species, i'm over ran with fry as i speak, all i stated in the first place were Bolivians are best for begginers and that APistos are alot more sensitive to water quality than Bolivians, if you disagree with that, then i'll just agree to disagree (strongly).

I think Kribs are too aggressive for Cardinals when breeding. Obviously it all depends on each individual fish's temperament but mine were evil!

An Ellioti would be fine as your centrepiece fish, mine is very easy going with my shoalers... it's just anything big he don't like.

Agree kribs can be tempremental guess it depends on the fish it self

You say all that, when you started the bloody thing, quit being rude and trolling me and offer some constructive advice to the op.

What is it that makes you so sore anyway, lets break it down?

My original post was

Apistos look nicer but are alot more expensive and are a lot weaker.

If you are keeping dwarfs for the first time, go for Bolivians.

That meaning that Apisto's are not a beginner fish, they are more sensitive than Bolivians and have particular requirements, wheras Bolivians are tough as old boots and will thrive in your average neutral community.

SO what exactly about my opinion got you all mad?

Honestly, I'm very overwhelmed with the species, and can't seem to find a good list! Any you would suggest? And I'm in the states,

minnnt: The elloti's are beautiful! I'm going to have to look in to them too!

Do they prefer a rock scape, or a heavily planted? Because I was planning on a heavily planted!

Ah shame would have given you some of my fry never mind :)
I did have a huge list of species ill try find them for you in the morning. Apistogramma cacatuoides are one of best to start with as their not too demanding IMO. Yes heavily planted is a good start helps in many ways to create a good mature tank :good:

Wow, are Apistogrammas very expensive? On foster and smith they're upwards of $60, not including shipping.

And I wish I lived in the UK, there's a much bigger market for fish there! WOuldn't have to hunt so much. But I appreciate the offer! :)

wow och i guess it depends on the species , cacs should be cheap i sell a pair for £10 which is what $16 not bad really

My ellioti is in a fully planted tank. He's great with them too. He doesn't bother them at all.
