Since tomorrow I'll be boiling eggs, is it ok to crumble a bit of egg yolk and feed it to the swordtail fry? (I'll change the water after that though, as I heard that eggs foul the water)

I've heard other people did this, but I'm not sure if it's ok for them. Other people crush the shell of an egg but I don't think I can crush it small enough.

I've never bothered with putting boiled egg in with swordtail fry; they are big enough to take crushed flake from day one.

I did use pureed boiled egg yolk with my rainbowfish fry; because they are RIDICULOUSLY tiny and wouldn't have been able to fit crushed flake in their mouths.

I'm sure the swords will probably have a go at the egg yolk though, greedy beggars!

I already fed them flakes, although I had to make the flakes VERY small. They were ignoring the 1 millimeter pieces and I was worried that they'd go hungry. Good thing my tweezers can crush a flake to powder. They all swam to the top as soon as they saw the powder. X))

But I just wanted to give them something as a treat since I will be boiling the eggs anyway (to eat them lol).

Oh, and my swordy fry are almost as small as guppy fry, as they are most probably the first batch of my female. The mommy herself probably isn't older than 5 months (I had her for 3 months now and she's just 3-4 cm long)

You can feed it but if you over feed it will pollute the water very quickly!

It's only a one time thing and obviously won't give more than maybe 4 small balls of yolk (all I have in there are 4 fry). Then I'll change the water 90% with fresh water.
I keep exchanging water between the tub and the tank every few hours, having no extra filter available.

They sure like the egg yolk. Lol. Pecking the bits.
I'm leaving a bit of fresh water to warm for them, will do a big water change.
I'll be putting some water from the main tank too and adding the one from the fry into main tank to get filtered. I'll change the main tank's water today too.

Update: changed the water. No more smell. Though oddly the ammonia still read zero. o_O Maybe it's just the flakes fishy smell...
