Bogwood

There are woods behind my house and I am wanting to go find a nice big piece of bogwood to add to my tank. I want to know if it would be safe to do that, bake it in the oven for a while, then soak it for a few weeks to get rid of all parasites and what not?

You'll have to be careful what sort of wood it is. Any "soft" wood could leech sap into the water which won't do your fish much good. You'd want to find wood that's been dead for some time too, so that it's completely dried out.

Baking and boiling, and soaking should do the trick generally.
