Blue Gouramis Gasping For Air

this isnt the case...bacteria will happily develop in lower PH conditions...but large PH drops will make them idle i know dave spencers tank has a KH of around 0 so it has a VERY low buffering capacity so his PH is very low yet his bacteria thrive, it just depends on the conditions the bacteria start to develop in, it takes them a while to adapt in a large PH drop (ie' a drop of 2 or more)

nevermind. i read on wikipedia that the labyrinth organ makes gouramis breathe air from the top of the tank rather than the oxygen in the water. all is well.

gouramis are anabantoids and have labyrinth organs which enables them to breath atmospheric air...are they lethargic? or breathing normally?
