Blue Eyed Panaque

Well i was chatting with some friends in medellin colombia, They just got after a few days fishing and told me that in amonst there catch was, Oscars, black bass , blue eyed panaque , other cats can't remember the names, even got a few blue acara.....
I Thought to myself and googled the panaque to find out the still very difficult to find here or in the states?
Maybe i should get him to send me some over, how easy would this be

dont think u can mate without a license to import fish?

From a few web searches I think you need 2 documents, DOF 8T (licence) and DOF 15 (health certificate). Though I would ring Defra up and asked exactly what you need (01305 206673/4 is their phone number apparently)

Getting an import licence isn't that hard. Try a PM to Paul_MTS. One of his friends who doesn't frequent the forum much any more used to import fish.

However, there may be an issue with your friend getting a licence to export.

I do know a person who has a tropical fish farm in medellin so maybe he could stand a better chance of getting one?
he also breeds rays / discus / cardinals etc,,, so maybe it would be more viable that way, thanks fot the help andy
do you guys think if i could get the correct papers it would be viable to actually run that type of bussiness?

Your problem with importing is being able to import enough to absorb deaths in transit as well as the holding space to keep the fish until they are sold/delivered.

Again, Paul_MTS is the only person I am aware of on here who had anything like close dealings with an importer.

i guess all depends on wot ur trying 2 import as well... alot of plecs are banned nowadays so would probably be just ur average fish u could probably get in your LFS that would be importing anyways
