hi ive seen a few tanks about that had a stuning blue colour so emailed the people to ask what are they using and a few replied , blue arcadia marine t8 bulbs etc

but i think there marine only???

whats available for tropical which gives the best blue?

they wont hurt your tropical tank dont orry its just that they are designed for marine tanks. If you have live plants thy might not fare to well under these bulbs but hey you never know.

Hi there,

We use a Combination of a Power Glo bulb, and a Blue Moon Actinic bulb by Interpet.
In the afternoons/evenings we sometimes just turn on the Blue Moon bulb, this resembles moonlight and the nocternal fish (IE my pleco) become more active and are more comfortable in coming out :)

As long as its not the only source of light (im not sure if its enough, especially for live plants) it'll be fine, and looks great :)

I recommend them

have a look at the 'cold cathode moon light' thread in the DIY section ;)

that way you won't loose a valuable normal light.

if you go to the click here bit just under my sig, then go to the fish pics, there are two there taken with the moonlight. not that great to get the effect, as I was going for a fish pic, but you can kind of get the idea when compared to the others. will try to take some later to give you the overall look of the tank.
