a fish i would like in the future is a blue acara maybe as a centrepiece fish ( 4 ftt 300 litre tank) 121cmx51cmx62cm . are they safe with corys?

Blue acaras are big softies, no problems with cories :D

great stuff. thinkiing of having 1 as centrepiece fish in new tank ( when i eventually get it ) and my girlfriend is adamant that even tho most of current fish are going she wants to keep the corys so i told her i would. would it be ok to have just 1 blue acara or should i get as pair ? was thinking possibly severums for centrepiece b ut have had mixed opinion as to wether tank will be big enough . 121x51x62 ( cm l,w,h). then saw blue acarras thought they were great looking fish and also a touch smaller but not too small

hmm interesting link if slightly confusing ( i know sweet fa about cichlids) all i know is i want to do a fairly robust resonably peacefull community with a really impressive centrepiece .

from my current stock i will be keeping red tailed black shark pictus catfish male krib ( may add female not sure yet) a gibicep which i will prob swap for a smaller more colourful plec maybe something like a scribble plec.

to ad to this im thinking either a big shoal of something ( not neons etc. something a bit less run of the mill) and a really cool centrepiece fish like the acara or severum

or maybe forget the shoal and have a few nice impressive fish.

choices choices hey well at least i have time to keep asking questions on here and use the input along with my own ideas to make my mind up.

what would be nice,,,in my oppinion,
1 severum<peaceful
1 blue acara<peaceful
1 bristlenose plec<peaceful
10 colombian tetra's<seen these in my lfs and i love them sooo much, but no where to keep anymore fish  <peaceful
Cory Catfish"- 6 <peaceful
:good:

Severum and an Acara would be nice.

Congo tetras - beautiful fish, very active middle/top fish.

Corydoras as bottom, just keep an eye on that RTBS.

im liking the sound of that. my rtbs is a big softie so i have got no worries about him

i had a 7-8inch redtailed shark in my 150us with small oscars<1-2inch> a small severum etc,,,, never bothered with them, just put some caves for him to own, put it in a corner and it should be ok, they do get more aggresive as they grow,,,,

have you googled the colombian tetra's

hes about 3.5 inches at the moment. plus when i set this tank up im gonna make loads of hidy holes for the fish so should be fine checked out those congo tetras they look great. am on a site looking at diferent plecos at the moment instead of my gibbi. tempted at the mo by L128 blue phantom L204 emperor pleco
L75 rio de para pleco L354 large spot pleco L134 leopaed frog pleco and L18 the good ole golden nugget.

as you can see im havin a bit of a mare deciding lol keep thinking i got my potential stocking sorted then change my mind a hundred times!
