Blue Acara An Parrot Breeding!

Hi, my Blue Acara and my Parrot have decided to take up home in one end of my tank. I had noticed eggs but just presumed my Parrot was sterile, turns out not. Just noticed a load of youngsters swimming round. Gonna try an catch them and put them in my shrimp tank to grow out a bit. Anyone have any experience of this, or have any indication on what they may turn out like. They look quite stripey at the minute. I will try an get some pics

yeah, just caught about 40 of them to put in my 40gal shrimp tank. Gonna grow them out now as the guy who owns my LFS I like to use is gonna take them when their older. Just need to get this 6x2x2 sorted now so the parents dont cause too much damage. Anyone ever heard of a Parrot an a Blue Acara? I have had a Convict an parrot but the Parrot was infertile so eggs never came to anything.

Ok parrots can cross with other cichlids but I would not have thought it possible with a blue acara. Then again stranger things have happened. Can you post any pics of the parents and/or fry?

Told you they were bad, this is just the Parrot with them, although u cant see the fry. The video has the Acara in too an is slightly better quality, just need to learn to upload it

U can just see the Acara bottom left of the 2nd photo. It seems slightly too stripey to me, although I'm no expert.

the blue acara looks like the top of a convict to me although im no expert and most likely wrong lol.

This is not mine, however found it on google under Acara and its identical to mine. Looks different to other pics of Acaras tho.

Only difference is mine is red on the dorsal where this is a lighter blue colour.
