well i told a few people i would keep them updated, so heres the update, he has been in the seperate tank since sunday and has been getting much better, showing more progress every day, he is now looking as good as new so snapped up some pics, if anyone doesn't know he was suffering from swimbladder

Hospital tank: contains: filter, plant, methylene blue, have been adding a litre and half every other day, don't want to add to much yet incase it happens again.

Good to hear that Blazeis recovering i just lost my bette Mist to an unknown reason just woke up and he had asted aay so i tested the water and everything was fine so im guessing it must have been old age or something like that but i cleaned the tank top to bottom and now i have a new male fighter nearly identical to him but not as muc white as he had but i hope he rests in peace :rip:

That's good to hear about Blaze.
That sucks about Mist.
My Bettas are doing ok.
Now let's all bake cookies.

thats great news about Blaze. hope he stays well :)

:rip: Mist :(

Glad to hear Blaze is doing better... was the swim bladder caused from over-feeding? If it was... I know you now know to be careful with feeding too much (as much as they practically plead for more)... and also avoid anything freeze-dried - as this can lead to constipation/swim bladder problems.

Sorry about Mist, Tropicman.

think it was constipation although i only feed him 3 pellets every other day, sometimes one the day inbetween

3 pellets every other day? Hmmm.... you shouldn't have constipation issues b/c that's barely enough, IMO... do you supplement with any other foods? Are the pellets large or small (what kind)? Just curious?

i feed him twenty four seven floating pellets then king british sinking catfish pellets which he loves, could it have been his water quality, i only changed it 2 days before?

going to get some bloodworm once i get paid

Sorry... I'm unfamiliar with that food - but most betta keepers recommend 4-5 betta pellets daily - and you can substitute bloodworms (frozen/thawed) for some of the pellets. As for water quality issues being a possible cause, I'm not sure how big your tank (or hospital tank) is... but a 1 gallon hospital tank needs changing every 3-4 days (100%), for example. If you do strictly 100% water changes, your best to get an ammonia testing kit, and a pH testing kit to keep tabs on the water parameters. Even 0.25 ammonia can start to cause sickness with your betta, and that can be reached very easily after a couple of days in a small tank. Good luck!!

I knew Blaze would muddle through it! :D Thanks for the post and the pics!

the tank when full is 2.5 gal, there is a small filter in there but i change half every other day, defo going to get some bloodworm and some betta food, he is just on them until i get the money to buy more, started job today so will get paid fridays so get some over the weekend, then hopefully it won't happen again :good:
