So, I have this beautiful group of "Blacks" that spawn constantly with all the eggs being infertile. The last time they spawned, about 5 days ago, I was sure there were some eggs that looked viable, but alas, within 24 hours they all either developed fungus or turned chalky white, all throughout the java moss. No big deal - I'm used to it.
Today I went to take out the moss to give it a good cleaning and pick out the fungus blobs. As I lifted the moss, wigglers started shooting about the tank. There has to be an easy 3 dozen very healthy looking and active wigglers scurrying about. I cannot begin to tell you what a tremendous surprise, that was. It made my day. Then, I find that another group of blacks have spawned, with some eggs that I am certain are viable.
Additionally, my beautiful group of CW003's, which I have only had a little over a week, spawned as I watched and left a total of 570 eggs. This is the largest single spawn I have ever seen and incredibly, they appear 100% viable. I am eagerly awaiting the hatching. I can't even begin to imagine what that many wigglers looks like.
Other spawnings and hatchings, this week, include: C035, C042, C118, C. adolfoi, C. duplicareus, C. ehrhardti, C. nattereri, S. prionotus, C. similis, C. simulatus, C. sterbai and last but not least, my beautiful Endlers also dropped. Hmmm. I think I'm leaving a group, out - but I don't know what it is. - Frank

P.S. I didn't forget a group. It must have been a premonition. After I hit the submit button on this post, I went back down into the fish room and found a huge spawn of S. kronei. A good 250 eggs. I cannot tell you what is going on, but it's magical - and truly a bit overwhelming. I'm afraid to look too hard into any other tanks. Seriously!!! I do not have a single empty tank. I am in deep doo-doo!
P.P.S. No - I did forget one - C. sarareensis. This is beyond, incredible.
P.P.P.S. Add a second group of C118's. I just had to turn off the lights and deal with it tomorrow. I'm just way too frazzled.
