i have noticed a black spot has apered on the forhead of my oscar can anyone help thanks

Need more info mate.

How old is the oscar (and what colour; it could be natural pigmentation), how big is the tank, how long's it been set up, what kind of filtration does it have?

Have you tested the water and what's your water change/filter maintenance regime?

it is an albino 7 inch its in a 6 x 2 x2 tank i do a 15% water change per week i was using a tetratec 1200 but it broke i am now using 2 internal filters but its not the change of filter as it appered before it broke

Hmmm...how big is the spot? Does it look either raised up or sunken in or red around the edges?

its the size of a 3mm pellet its just under the skin and its all black

Are there snails in your tank? As there is a disease called black spot that's carried by molluscs.

If it is that, I think it'll clear up on it's own with plenty of water changes if you can get rid of the snails (always assuming that's what it is; I could be wrong).

I'd be inclined to just keep an eye on it for the moment. Keep up the water changes (maybe do a few larger ones if you've been having filter troubles) and get the water tested to check all is well, as it could be ammonia burns.

Best of luck; I hope he's ok :good:

ive been looking at him alot today and i think it might be hith can anyone tell what i should do

yes i think that is it nelly on the link the bottom right pic its like the black spot on its head can i cure this or am i fighting a loosing batle

I've had a good trawl round the internet (I've got an oscar too and am petrified of him getting HITH) and first of all you need to improve your water with more, larger water changes and the fish's diet with a more varied menu; soaking the fish's pellets in a liquid multi-vitamin (one that contains vitamins A and D) seems to be recommended by a lot of people.

Then you need either Flagyl (that's the brand name, the drug is metronidazole) or a mix of Flagyl and Chloramphenicol (chloromycetin). You might need to speak to a vet and get a prescription, depending on where you are, because chloromycetin is an antibiotic.

I hope it turns out to be something else; I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for him.

You're very welcome; I hope it turns out ok for you :good:
