Black Algae Is Gone - By Accident.

So have this 450l tank with heavily planted and heavily stocked..

Lights.. 4x54w t5 all 10k

Excel and TPN+ dosed daily


Tank was covered in black algae.. Not one type.. Atleast 3 types..



Got fedup.. And planning for bigger tank, decided to give up planted forest setup.. And set it like 3d background, lots of root woods and water lattice plants only.. So all stopped for two weeks.. Including weekly 50% water change.. Due to busy with work.. By this time 70% of bba is gone and plants are green again. So I done a 50% WC with tpn and excel ( full dose for WC) but stopped the daily dose.. three weeks on... 90% of bba is gone.. And most notably the brown goo get coated in the plants and roots gone completely... Tank is cristal clear with healthy green plants..

Maybe it was an attention seeking thing...coz you ignored it's bad behaviour it stopped acting up? Might try it lol.

I think it's down to WC... No weekly WC for me now.. Only twice a month now.. Since I have enough filtration capacity to filter lake Victoria.. I shouldnt worry about water parameters...
