Yep, he is still going. He took a bit of pea, and had some flake as well. Still not right but sunday he was giving it a good try around the tank. Did a 50% water change on Sat then on sunday it was the next dose of the treatment. I think what helps is that he is in the seperate tank with just two Apple snails and some vallis for company. So fingers crossed, I think he may pull through, will just take time and lots of TLC. "Way to go Billy" :good:

The tanks ways to small for bala sharks they need 100 gallon tanks.

What are your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Listing to oneside can be internal parasites, swim bladder, bacterial, injury.

What do you feed the fish.
What does it look like when the fish goes to the toilet.
Is the anus enlarged or red and inflamed.
Does the fish look bloated or skinny.
Do you have a stable temp.

As I said in my thread, he is only listing slightly, almost as if he's lazy. I didn't want to whip him out into the 60 litre and start med for swim bladder if it could have been down to just old age. I'll have a good look when I get home after I've fed them. Thanks for comming back wilder, I'll update in the morning. As I've said I've had him for 4 years, bless him he's not even had the pleasure of a Lady platy.

Meds only work on bacterial swim bladder. Which is an infection of the swim bladder.

Try some shelled cooked frozen peas.
Same as you say it could just be old age. But need to make sure.

Well I got home last night and Billy was worse. Swim Bladder is the diagnosis. Having trouble keeping to the bottom and floating tail up towards the surface. So I put swim bladder treatment in the heated 60 litre. The only problem I had was netting him out. For a poorly fish he didn't seem to realise I was trying to make him better and thought it would be fun to dart around and hide. So not to over stress him I left it for a couple of hours. Just when I thought I would have to empty the tank of plants, bogwood etc to get him, he came peacefully. So last night he was still alive but lying up beside the heater and the filter. This morning I was half expecting him to be dead. When I put on the kitchen light this morning, there he was trying to swim (not well) but trying, I actually said to him "way to go BillY". When I left him to go to work he was back lying between the heater and pump. If he is still with me when I get home, should I feed him or leave it for a few days. Also any other advice would be most welcome.

Thanks

Try some peas, bless him.
Let me know how he gets on if you don't mind.
Good Luck.

Thanks wilder,

I'm dreading going home. If he is still with us, I'm gonner have to stop myself from hugging him. Peas it is then, fingers crossed.

I know how you feel.

Hows the fish doing.

Sorry Wilder, got it wrong, the update is at the top of the page. He is still with us, more alert this morning, still bent though and when I gave him some pea the other day I did notice the white stringy poo. I haven't seen anything else though. He took a little flake last night so he hasn't lost his appetite. The med I've been using is the Interpet swim bladder treatment. The next dose is due thursday. He can straighten out when he goes for a zip around. I'll tell you what if this little chap pull's through I'm going to get him some lady friends. Thanks Wilder.

Keep a close eye on the other fish aswell. For long stringy white poo.
Good Luck.

I've also given them some pea aswell, Yes, I do keep a close eye on them, they are probably fed up with me hovering around the tank, they will probably take an injunction out on me soon for stalking

LOL.
I just want to make sure it is old age. As bending of the spine can mean other deseases.
Good Luck.
