Billy The Platy - Rip

Yes he is still with us. I noticed more stringy white poo last night. Tomorrow night is next dose night. He's still feeding and still trying to swim. His colour is still good, his anus is not red or swollen and his stomach is quite normal I cant see any discolouration through the skin, ie no red worm type things. He seems to sleep (for a better word for it) more just after a dose of the med then two days after that he gets quite abit more animated. I plan to give the tank a 50% water change and clean this weekend. Also will keep up with the peas. I just can't think of anything else to do.

No there not much more you can do.
Let me no how he is in a few more days.

Thanks Wilder, It's been a week now and sometimes I think I'm being too hopefull for him. Even my other half has taken interest, got home last night he was lying on the bottom and I couldn't see his fins moving, So I was in the Owwwww Billy's died mode and bless him he turned around put an arm around me and said Oh no he isn't he was swimming around just before you came in. He was moving around quite abit this morning and he dosn't seem so bent up. So I'll dose him tonight and see how it goes. Really cheesed off with the postal strike, got a few things inc de-chlor on order. I suppose I'm not the only one in this situ.

Ok bless him.
If he gets any worse I would maybe think about ending his misery.

It could just be old age.
Let me know how he gets on.

Well I guess I've done everything I can for the little guy, but after the third dose of med, he is not looking like he is going to make a full recovery. I've read different view's of the best way of putting him to sleep, but ideally the kinder way would be best for him and me. I may even have to get the other half to do it. If you are out there Wilder, what would you personally recommend for Billy

So sorry.

Jug of cold water and add ice cubes till the water freezing cold. If no ice cubes place the jug of water in the freezer till a thin sheet of ice appears on top.
Place the fish in the freezing water. It won't take long. make sure gills are not moving.
Leave the fish awhile just to make sure it's passed away.

Thanks Wilder, at least it saved me doing the dirty deed. I've been keeping an eye on the other fish all fine, maybe I isolated him in time. You can never watch your fish enough I find.

I know.
By the time you notice something not right it can be to late.

Good luck with the rest of the fish.
