Biggest Fish For 55?

I have a 55 gal tank with 2 oscars 2 dempseys a large pleco and a really big kissing gourami. They are all full grown and are quite nice to each other. My oscars have holes in there heads though.

The only problem I see is hole in the head which can be caused in Cichlids by poor water quality. But, remove most of the other fish from that 55g tank and the oscars may be ok.

ROFL, only hole in the head, which is generally caused by crap water quality and a Poor diet, if they've had it for long then he will not have all of those fish in his tank for much longer

Now i've heard conflicting opinions on this. I think I even posted this as a poll about a year ago or so. I got the impression a 55gal tank would be enough. Maybe not. Not having kept the fish I can't say for sure then, just the impression I got in the past.

a 55USG (depending on dimensions) is considered the bare minimum for one Oscar, without Tankmates,
However anyone that has actually seen a fully grown oscar at around 12-14inches would obviously disagree with this, (as i personally do)

hmmmm all fully grown??? i seriously doubt that lot would reach anywhere near full grown in a tank that size and even if they did the only probably the only reason they all get along without fighting is that you have to be able to move in order to fight!!!!!!! and what exactly are you doing about this hole in the head in your oscars you dont seem particularly bothered about it . do the right thing and re-home those poor

I'd rather have a group of angels and be able to have a nice community of schooling fish than one or two massive fish. But I do like oscars.

oscars are great but i would either get a bigger tank if you really want them or settle for a smaller cichlid

4 large cichlids and a plec in a 55g please dont try this it will never work as the hole in the head has shown
