Bigger Fish With Smaller

Hi all well after a year on a small tank I upgraded to a big one I knew it was alot bigger than my last one but it looks massive, any way I've a little family of fighters 1dude 4 girls and a 2 threadfin rainbows males 3 females 4 cherry shrimp, I quite fancy a couple of discus as there big but I'm not sure if they will all get on pretty sure they will take out the shrimp.

Any other nice fish that are of size but friendly

It's a 300l tank external filter, gotta cycle it first so it's going to be a few weeks but I wanna start looking for a nice one

Great you've got a bigger tank. But generally fighters don't do well in large tanks. Certainly won't do well with 'fish of size' as they will get bullied into submission and most likely be killed.

In terms of what you can keep you have a vast selection now with a bigger tank, however be carefull with your current stocking as i said. Your fighters may not fair well in a large tank, they actually prefere smaller tanks with less flow to make them feel safe and secure. In larger tanks they get somewhat lost and you may find they become very reclusive and shy.

I have female betta in a 75gal and they are loving it and they act happier then when they were in the 20gal and they do come out of wherever they were hiding when I come which most of the time they are just chilling out in the floating plants I have or seeing if they can dig through my free range java moss.

As for the bigger fish I wouldn't do it since as said they will bully the smaller things but discus need slower moving tankmates so they don't stress out to much as well as so they don't starve
