Big Fish

Hi guys going to turn my 350l /75G community tank in for something with big fish, dont mind if there only 2 or 6 of them, Went off the idea of discus and my apisto breeding keeps me busy so fancy some big fish. Suggestions please name the fish and how many will fit ill do the reaserch

A Delhezi Bichir and Red Spotted Severum will fit in nicely in that tank. They both get pretty big and theres room for some more fish! THeyre also not too aggressive.

ohh like the Delhezi Bichir so far the only thing that puts me off is care sheet says they are nocturnal species, Red Spotted Severum or green Severum look ok, thinging i might get away with 4 in the tank, can you mix red and green does anyone know?
The wife will kill me if i put gold fish in tank that stands in at 1k lol

I would either go for a Red Head Tapajos community or get a nice male EBDJ and a female JD

Oh and before / once you decide, have a trip to Pier in Wigan. They will either finalise your decision or probably have what you want in stock lol. I did see some very nice looking juvenile EBJD's in The Abyss in Stockport (East Manchester) today. I was sooooo tempted, but my tank is full

yeah may be pusing my luck there, filtration is above average and my routine for water changes are clockwork, however i wouldt want to crowed them. A pair to 55g im reading hmmm will have to lookinto this. Purchase wise it wont be for a month or so ill read up on most fish for amonth or so before buying

75G would be. I remember reading that 55G is the minimum for one pair. Mind you, as most sources of minimum tank guidelines use US Gallons, I think that it is wise to point out that 350l is around 92 US Gallons.

Also, what are the dimensions of the tank?

green severums are said to be more aggressive than the others. I don't think there is much harm in mixing them, though. But it depends on who's the bully. And like I said, 4 seems like a lot. I've never kept severums, but they're pretty round in shape and get 10-12 inches long, so about the size of a dinner plate. They may be less tempered than other cichlids, but they can hold their ground. And I have a hunch they could get grumpy if they don't have a bit of space to themselves.

Oh, that's a bit different then. But a 55USG is too small. The width on those always stands between 12-13 inches, that'd leave little or no turning room.

ok defo not 4 after some reading but unless any better suggestions come im ill be going Red Head Tapajos, thanks for bringing them to my attention

No problems, they really are gorgeous fish. Good luck finding them though. There was somebody selling some on here a while back. Apart from that, I have seen them in my local MA once.

I am sure that Wills will have some good suggestions if he reads this thread.

Delhezis are not really nocturnal like a catfish. They come out a lot during the day. Not sure if you kept Spiny eels, but they out and swim more often compared to Spiny Eels. They sit more on the substrate than hide most of the time. And they always come out during feeding time, they have a good sense of smell which compensates for their very poor vision.

My 8 1/2" Green Severum just ignores my RTBS, 5" Oscar, Clown Barbs n 6" Datnoid. Kinda picks on my 6" Blood parrot tho. I think he's pretty docile.
