More plants. Without a doubt. Some Cabomba or Elodia along the back wall and in the front left to hide the heater as you look straight at the tank.

Or move the plant in the back left to the front left ,and put a coconut cave covered with java moss in the back left to replace it.

But definitely something like Cabomba for the back wall. It's very bare.

I would also suggest perhaps smaller/finer grade gravel. I think Black would really show off the colour of both the green plants and your red/pink betta.

I like the new plants, but smaller dark gravel or sand (I adore black sand) would really show him off. also a dark black background for the tank would set his color off as well.

little thing I did notice with your current gravel, try and wedge the divider a little farther down in the gravel, if you betta felt like it right now it looks like he could find a spot to squeeze threw and get at whatever is on the other side.

It looks better already to my eye. Just the back needs doing now I'd say, along with a finer gravel or sand in a dark colour.

If the tank wasn't divided I would have said add a piece of smooth twisty bogwood but his section isn't really big enough and wood would take up too much swimming space.

Also, have you tried putting a piece of black or dark blue card behind the back of the tank ? Doing that generally adds a bit of depth and draws the eye into the tank I find.
