Betta in community tank

i had a betta in my community tank for over a year before i re-did the tank.
tank size is not an issue. i had mine in a 75gallon and he was fine. had him with tetras, cory's, dwarf gouramis, brisstlenose,

while I've read of Betta males living harmoniously with other fish it surely depends on the Betta, his personality. I wouldn't dream of putting ANY fish, even a bottom feeder, in with Sunrise. He's quite happy lording it all alone in his 5 gallon and I just eyeball measured him and at the 1" of fish per gallon, he's about the right size for it too.
