For all you experts I was wondering if betta flake food was good to give every so often as a different source of food. I can't remember the brand but it does have somekind of protein as the number one ingredient, I use Hikari Betta Pellets as the main diet and feed Angel a pea every week or so (not a whole one of coarse). I just thought maybe mixing up his diet every 3 to 4 days would give something different to eat, I'd like to get some frozen or freeze dried foods but unfortunately we are a little tight in money for a few months and I have some betta flakes that are maybe a few months old unopened.

I dont see the harm in it. Rascal currently eats both betta pellets and tropical flakes, and i've seen no problem in her. Of course, my molly Dezzi also eats both. Really, there's been no harm in either of them so go ahead.

None of my bettas will eat the flake food. Even the most recent ones we purchased, we tried to get them to eat the flake food and they won't.

I guess I've been very fortunate, almost every betta I've had have eaten the betta flake food. Angel is very eager to eat the flake food as quickly as I give it to him, however he also loves Hikari Betta Pellets and the new freeze dried bloodworms. I've decided to only feed the bloodworms to him every 3 days, I will probably give him the flake food every other day and give him the Hikari Pellets as a main coarse.
