ok i was thinking about breeding bettas. ill look into the thread on breeding them but first i wanted to know if 6 gallons would be enough to breed them in. also if im going to would i take my most agressive female or biggest female? or would i have to just see if the male and female get along? anything would be apreciated.

thanks,

DL

well, you know that the water column has to be around 12-15 cm so the volume of the tank is not that important, its area is more important... you'll need something like 35 x 25 cm with a height about 20 cm (5 cm over the water level) that means about 17 liters

don't chose the female by the "agresivity" rank or by size (unless you want to use that "strain").. you better look at the color and fins - for both female and male...

I believe that Cracker breeds his bettas in 6 gallons or less, so yes, it should be okay but a lot of people do use tens as well. Keep in mind you'll need a growout tank as well.

cool thanks! well i was wondering when i can sell them because i could have them all sold easily, i was thinking of breeding my male CT with a halfmoon or atleast i think its a female halfmoon...

i looked at that article and i will def. do that!! ill probly put it in my bathroom with a blanket on top...

you can sell them after 3 months or so.

CT male + Female HM = you'll get some retarded fish they will turn out so ugly unless you want to do F2 or F3.

ok well i have a CT im not sure if i have another CT or not hmm..maybe ill post some pictures to see if someone can help identify my female tail types.

okay well i just did like 30minutes work on uploading and takin pictures to have my internet crash on me :hyper: ill post later when i can control my rage. anyways is there any tailtypes that i could mix with my CT?

Ok here's what you want to know.

Step 1 CT + PK = Retarded/long finned
Step 2 Retarded/long finned (choose the shortest tail) to mate with his/her sibling = kinda retarded
Step 3 - 4 spawned the siblings again and you might get this .... looks like a freak but looks nice.

Then do it with Ct + HM with the same procedure and the output is this ..........

okay so how much space would i need for the new borns? could they live altogather in a 10-12gallon and then afew in a 5 gallon and maybe if i can i could use my 6 gallon (me and my friend are gunna pair up for this) so where looking at about 20-22 gallons for them would that be okay? will i have to seperate the males and females? im going to sell as soon as possible since i don't have enough room to keep 100 bettas id probly only keep two.

You'll want to keep them all together, this may work but... :/ Twenty gallon minimum is the usual rule, do you have a decent place to sell?
