wanted to buy some cherry shrimp but didnt know if they would be able to go in the same tank as a betta, would this work or would they be made a meal of ?

I had an Amano shrimp with several FEMALE Bettas and they never bothered each other. However, I'm not sure how males would react. My female Bettas are great!

I have a male betta with four ghost shrimp and two endlers, and they get along fine! He doesn't seen to notice them to much, except when I drop in an algae wafer, and he flares at them when they get close to it! XD

My Betta used to try to eath them, If the tank is big enough then the shrimp may breed quicker than the betta can catch them

I have shrimp and a male Betta and they are coexisting as of yet. (about a month) I have noticed the shrimp avoid the Betta at times but that's generally when it's feeding time

One of mine lives quite happily with shrimp, my others saw them as a tasty snack, so it depends on the individual betta

It really depends very much on the individual fish. I tried both ghost and cherry shrimp in with my guy and they didn't last an hour. He does get along with the rasboras and catfish that share the tank (and the rasboras are tiny and would be easy to eat), but shrimp are snacks as far as he's concerned.

One of the most commonly recommended tank mates for a betta is some of the nice colorful neocaradina shrimp like cherry red shrimp.

My betta left the cherries along, however my asian bumblebees found them quite tasty.. the bumblebees even ate my ammanos..

My betta used to leave the cherries alone in his tank, but I have a funny feeling he's been eating them recently, even though the tank is planted relatively heavily. He certainly didn't like the rudolphs/red nosed shrimps I put in a while ago though - those two were gone within weeks :(

All depends on the individual betta, really.

It depends on the betta. My male crowntail gets along with 3 ghost shrimp and an ADF in his 5 gallon, moderately planted tank. The shrimp sit on plants most of the time, and since they're clear its easy to hide.
