Right some of you already know that I now unwittingly have an Oscar in with a Texas!!

The aggression of the texas has escalated in the last day to proportions where I am now getting concerned for the safety of my Oscar.

A new tank is on its way purely for the texas alone - but it wont be here for about another 10-12 days (due to stupid paypal echeques).

So I need to move one or the other out of the tank they are in.

Option 1. Place Oscar in the severum tanks which consists of 2 sevs, 2 geos, 2 acaras, 8 congo tetras - not idea but he shows no sign of aggression - YET! - but the sev's may to him!

Option 2 - Place oscar in hospital tank of only 7 gallons - not happy with this option as I think its too small even for a temp measure.

Option 3 - Put texas in 7 gallon hospital tank.

Option 4 - place one or the other in a divided betta tank, put betta in hospital tank. Although this still only affords them 5g on space but more turning room. And hope like hell the divider stays put (it is siliconed into place so it should!)

Oscar is 4", Texas is 6" - advice would be appreciated as i dont want to leave them another night as last night Oscar took hammering.

Hey minxfishy
what size are the other cichlids in the sev tank.

If it was me i would move him to the Severum tank, there are no real compatibility issues between the oscar and the other fish in that setup.
If you float the oscar in an open top bag for maybe an hour or two then it will allow the fish time to see the Oscar.
This will also give you an idea of how they will react when he is released.

No bags to try that Im afraid - ok will try the sev tank - same temps, same ph so no probs moving in that respect - Im just gonna hope that they leave him alone - they are fairly tolerant of the others in with them, bicker with each other but nothing serious. Thanks for your help. The sevs are 6", the geos 6" & 7", the acaras are still wee only 3/4".

I was thinking divide it nelly, but I cant get out now to get the stuff to do it, and its getting worse by the hour - dont fancy leaving it overnight.

Cant believe hes turned so quickly, thought I would be ok for a couple of weeks. The stupid thing is Merlin (Oscar) just seems to go back for more, youd have thought he would hide out of the way but he just swims back up to him 10 minutes later - clearly not to clever my oscar!

Nope no sandwich bags - dont do packed lunches me :D

Ok its done - kicked up a hell of a lot of dust but hes in - all calm so far - suprised it didnt take longer to catch him - again he just kinda looked at the net and didnt bother to move!!!

thats what all my fishes seem to do,,,,i caught a 3inch candystipe plec in my 150us gallon all it took was one slow dip of the net and in he swam
so would you mind, peering at two oscars and some gaint redtail tinfoil barbs,,,,
