Best Product For Lowering Ph

Hi,

I have a high PH, around 7.4-7.5. I need to get this closer to 7. I have tried PH down. No luck. The guy at the LFS sold me a bottle of seachem neutral regulator. This does not work either. What is a product that does work? My ammonia levels and nitrite levels are fine but i dont have a test kit for hard or soft water. I have a 20 gallon tank with a pair of sword tails, 2 gold barbs, 2 corys, 9 neon tetras, 2 mystery snails, and a few plants. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

btw.................all the fish seem to be doing fine. i just did a water change last night with new water that had a ph or 7.0. I did not lower it.

That is not a very high pH at all. Looking at the fish, there are no species that require a low pH and my guess it that they are thriving,if you fiddle around with the pH, you will stress out the fish. Best leave it as it is.

a stable pH is much more important than the 'right' pH - just let it be

I agree, the pH should be left alone. pH altering products can cause more harm than good. Most fish can become accustomed to a different pH level than is recommended for them, as long as it is stable.

As others have said, stable pH is much more important than low/high pH. As an aside you should really up your cory numbers to 6 - they're a schooling fish and you'll notice a difference in their behaviour when they're in a proper group.

My pH is usually at about 8.2 and most fish seem fine in that.

strange i just got back from work and tested it and the PH is now 7. i guess that product kicked in. its usually a 7. just been really high the last few weeks and im not sure why. but everything seems to be back to normal right now.

yeah i wanted 6 corys. the problem is that i have a trili, and some sort of one i cant identify. I can not find any corys like these anywhere. They do not hang out together at all being that they are diff species and it is very annoying. do you really think i can add 4 more with all the life i have in there??? im planning on getting 3 more gold barbs.

Label your test tubes for your test kit, the chances are any residues could devoid your results, the product you added should have worked instantly, I'd bet that its your test tubes interfering with your results.

i only have one test tube, and that is for ph. strange though how it balanced out while i was at work. i dont get it, but as long as it stays like this i am fine with it.
