Best Plant Pack

dint mean to sound rude then mate just alot to take in, thanks for your input though

is 50% water changes a must? as it will alter my p.h too much everytime which could shock the fish as im getting a pair of platinum angels and they are suseptable to that

It is a lot to take in.Why not go with steveo's last suggestion.Lots of floaters.
I'd like to see if you can make it work.
I've got a Rio 180 (with internal filter) and use Amazon frogbit. It's too big to get sucked into the filter, though some get stuck on the outside of the grill intake.

so low light plants lots of floating plants and dose tpn+ are the 50% water changes needed as that might be a problem

to be honest i'm not sure on that.

Daily dosing hopefully gives the plant all the nutrients it needs, it's better to give a little bit more, than not enough. Not enough and the plants start to fail, letting algae in.

One of the reasons for the water changes is to 'reset' the tank each week to stop a build up of excess nutrients.

i guess you could dose every few days and watch what the plants are telling you and then tweak the routine/dose, but i'm not sure what that would mean regarding waterchanges.

Think you need confirmation from someone else about that.

Tbh, you could get away with dosing less often but I'd dose every day, thing is with using the internal filter if you end up with some melting plants it will spike with ammonia and I don't know how well built in internals handle spikes as I've mainly used externals on planted set ups. You may be able to get away with not dosing and just having fewer plants but I'd still have floaters. If you want dense planting then dose but also the dense plant mass can help with reducing harmful spikes but at the same time using a not so good filter and getting a bog spike from melting plants could be bad. Bit stuck between a rock and a card place here lol. I'd go with dosing daily, floating plants and easy maintenance plants and see how you get on before stocking.

what if i add a fluval 106 would that help? Also how many hours with the light on, should it be less because of the lights im going to be using?

I'd get something with more flow than that, that would be lucky to turn your tank over 2 x in an hour. Photo period wise no more than 8 hours so long as you have the floating plants.

what 600lph pump on corner unit 900lph circulator and the flow off the 106?

That would be ok if you could set them all up to keep the flow in the same direction, bare in mind that you should pretty much half the flow rate of any filter once the media is in.

Tbh if it was me I'd ditch the internal, buy a 2000lph external and a small wavemaker and you'd be sorted.

If not and you can only go as far as a 206 then just get as much flow as you can with the budget you have. Honestly, when planting a tank, flow is one of the most important factors.

price not an issue really i just would rather use the corner unit and then another filter then if one would happen to fail all would be fine. would a 1000lph pump be better on the juwel corner unit then add a 206 and use my 900lph circulator also? am i getting anywhere near the flow i need with that?

That should be fine, just make sure they are all flowing in the same direction.

yeh i'l make it so it all circulates one way back round to the intakes, cheers steveo u've been extremely helpful
