i currently use API pH testers in my tanks but the colour doesnt match any of the colours on the card....
ive tested with low pH and its the highest one 7.6 i think it is but when i test with high pH its not matching! the colours on the card go from 7.4-7.8 and the colour in my eyes gets lighter then considerably darker with a reading of 8.0! mine is between the 3 colours but not as dark as 8.0, not as light as 7.8 but a bit darker than 7.4!!!!!!!!!!!
with this reading i cant tell what my pH is, my fish are fine but i would love to know a more accurate reading.

so can anyone advise a more accurate tester for high range pH please, thanks.

Matt

If the color matches the highest number on the Low pH test then you need to test with the high. If it's between the colors for 7.4 and 7.8 then it's probably around 7.6. It's really not an issue that you don't know the exact number (I probably haven't tested my pH more than a couple times in the last 2 or 3 years). Most fish can easily adapt to a pH that's outside their optimal range as long as it's stable. If your fish are doing fine, you have nothing to worry about.
