What is the best filter for a quarantine tank?

Sponge filter typically, anything will work as long as you protect the intake but sponge filters are known to grow more microfauna which fry will feed on

Tip

If you have an airstone get rid of it, they are pointless and just make noise and bubbles and nothing else.

Get a small sponge filter and run that instead of the air stone, Then if ever you need to set up a hospital tank you have a fully cycled sponge filter ready to go.

OR

If you have a canister filter stick the sponge filter minus the plastic frame in the top tray.
