Hi there. A little while ago this little gal was born and she was very bent. I thought she wouldn't live but it's been over a month now. Do you think she'll live and be fine as an adult?

I would cull her just to prevent her from breeding again. CUlling is the killing of any fry with malformations, so you can put her to sleep using clover oil, put a pin in her head, or (this is the worst IMO) putting it in a bag and then killing with a hammer.

Dont freeze because that is actually painful for the fish.
Good luck, and sorry about her :(

Yikes. I figured her being bent like that would prevent her from breeding. I don't think I can cull her.

I'm afraid these sorts of deformities are quite common in livebearers, just because of the amount of fry produced.

It's really hard to tell if it's a genetic thing, from birth trauma, or even poor water conditions, but it is really important you don't let her breed, so you do need to separate her.

I think you can leave her there unless the males try to mate with her. Which pobably they wont.

I'm afraid male livebearers will breed with any available females, whether they're healthy or not.

She really does need separating.
