Beneifts Of Shrimp And A Few Other Q

so i have in the tank (200) lots of plants and wood
danios,platys,angels,mollys,clown loaches,rams

could i get shrimp im with that lot? do they do a bit of cleaning?
ive never had them before, but have been reading a few posts and although im really hoping that i wouldnt need to touch them for any reason,quite like the look of them,
its a new set up with scrounged media, so if they prefer mature then i spose its a no no
anything else i should be aware of if by any chance it is possible to have them, also theres quite a few diffrent types, is there a more hardy type?

any info appreciated

heya

well, you cant have copper in the tank if you have shrimp.
They clean very very well nice things to have imo.
They also cannot tolerate Ammonia.
If you did add them, I would be a tad interested in how the Rams/loaches act; I'm not sure if they might go in for a "bite to eat" hehe

Hmm you would need to be careful with the rams and probably the angels too, they will eat the baby shrimp, assuming you get any, but they can also eat the adults.

Apple snails shelagh, they do a good job

I'd suggest getting larger shrimp eg. Amanos.

I have a ram in my tank and she took an interest in the shrimp even though she's only at 2" long. (the shrimp are between 2-3cm)
After inspection she's left them alone, to be honest if they have plenty of hidey holes i'd have thought you'd be fine.

right ok i just got 3 apple snails( is that enough? ), ugly blighters also while i was at the fish shop the girl working there told me that she had shrimp and her larger angels ate them all so ill get another filter for my 320 in a few weeks ( concentrating on this tank and getting a new one at the moment) and set them up a tank of there own.. wouldnt be fair to have them in there and hope for the best.

I have 1 armoured shrimp, big one too and love him but he doesn't seem to go around much, just stays hidden in one spot most of the days. I don't know if that's normal.

ok ok i take it back , i just watched 2 of them come out of their shells and have a look about, i may have been a bit harsh cute in a gooey kind of way, the ram is lurking near them and keeps having a "peck" they wont eat the plants and the clown loaches wont eat them will they?

I thought clown loaches were really quite big on eating snails?

hmm me too ( well its a fact that they are) but these loaches are only tiny, just about an inch, look tiny next to the snails, have had a look but not showing any real interest, just have to keep them well fed
