Bamboo Shirmp

Hey, My current setup is only 5 Bloodfin Tetras and 2 Bronze corys in my 10 gallon tank. I saw some bamboo shrimp at my local petco and they looked so cool. Would they be okay with the tetras and corys.

I think bamboo shrimp are a bit larger than other types of freshwater shrimp. Correct me if I am wrong. So I wouldn't put any in a 10 gallon. I would reccomend another type of shrimp. Cherry shrimp look stunning with neons and black gravel IMO.

they can grow quite large! some can get to 5"!

bamboo shrimp are filter feeders and if not fed properly will starve. they filter food from the water instead of scavenging it from the substrate. once they find a good feeding spot they hardly move so although they look cool and funky you may never see it.... if they cant find a decent feeding spot it may starve and die!

I have had 4 bamboo shrimp and all of them had a spot to eat so very unlikely that they will starve to death. However, best thing to do is have a good current around the tank and they will figure where the current is and where the food will float about. All you need to do is feed your fish and maybe add a little bit more if you want but either way they will catch it in the current or go around on the floor sifting through the gravel. The best thing to do is let the food go in the current and very likely it will get to them.
These will make your tank crystal clear which they really do help cleaning out the bits floating and will give a lot of interest in your tank. They do shed their skin so you may find a shrimp on the floor dead but really it is their dead skin that they had molted.

How big were they at the lfs because normally you find them at around 5cm.

thought so lol, the biggest I have seen in the Uk and being the biggest I've had is around 5-6cm.
Would love to see when they reach 10-12cm because I have heard they fight and can actually defend them selves. Mine were defending his self from a molly which was really funny because he was on his back 2 or 4 legs lol and about 4 arms waving around to scare the molly lol
