Hello

I've been away for a while with life, getting married, having a child and moving house, now I have got time to sort out a new tank which I plan to have planted with rams and a school of cardinals or harlequins. I am yet to research the compatibility of this idea but will do so soon any advise is welcome.

So atm the tank has two filters running one being a donated filter out of a friends tank, 3 fish and a load of plants lobbed in.

Here's a pic

Be sure to ask your friend if he/she is willing to donate any media to you in the near future..this will then allow you to stock your tank slowly but surely :good:

He has donated media too

Also I've just read up on rams and don't think it's a path I want to go down so will need other fish ideas

It's great that he has donated previously, but if he is willing to do so in the future then you could, potentially, pretty much stock alot more in one go. I have a Golden Ram (male) and as long as you are 100% dedicated to weekly ,possibly twice weekly, water changes then they are fantastic to keep (their particulary low acceptance of NitrAtes makes it very, very important you dedicate time to these). Otherwise the world is pretty much your oyster as to stocking (tap water softness/hardness possibly being the only problem).
I have a peaceful, community tank..the stocking can be found in my signature, it it's any help. Good luck :good:

maybe you could try 1 gouramis, or some scarlet badis i have not had much experience with them, but i have they are awsome fish, and they are only about an 1 inch ,give or take a few cm, long. You could fit maybe 2 males and 3 females in that tank. but females are hard to come by. males are bright red and females are more of a duller brown

An update of the tank

I have added 2 new plants and ordered some more from aqua essentials ( however they have yet to arrive apprently they was dispatched 12 days ago)
