I am never ordering anything from there again. :angry: I bought:
5 Red Cherry Shrimp
3 Amano Shrimp
3 Otos
8 Black Diamond Cories (corydoras hastatus)
5 Lobelia cardinalis
3 Dwarf Hairgrass
4 Cyperus helferi

of those
1 Red Cherry Shrimp was DOA
1 Amano Shrimp died within 1-3 days
1 Oto was DOA and one died within 1-3 days
ALL 8 cories were DOA
and the plants were okay looking. Not great, though, there was a bunch of dead leaves and stems.
And to top it all off, I didn't even receive the Cyperus helferi!

I emailed the site about the DOAs about an hour after I'd opened the package last Friday, and they still haven't replied.
I know they're shipping from Arizona, but I was dissapointed at the shipping. The only insulation/protection (if you can call it that) was a few pages of crumpled up newspaper and one small heat pack that was COLD when we I opened it. I don't think a few pieces of paper will protect from 11*F weather. I blame some losses on the weather, but 10 DOAs is a lot. :unsure:
Does anyone else have any experiences with this place?
 
I just got an email. They said they'd give me a store credit for the DOAs. It doesn't include shipping though. I don't think I'm going to buy from there again, because I'll probably just get more DOAs with their shipping method, anyway. :angry:
 
I'm surprised people still buy from them.

They're notorious among planted circles for being one of the worse online plant stores.

Really? Whew... glad I decided not to order anything from them then.. well, helps that their shipping prices are enormous!

What are some good online stores though? I just ordered some plants from thatpetplace and hope I don't have an experience like that :unsure:
 
I am using thatpetplace and drsfostersmith for most of my stuff. I am waiting for shipments from both right now. Haven't bought plants yet though so I don't know about that part.
 
I've always played with the idea of building a site of aquarium store reviews. It's never good when someone gets cheated by a bad store.
 
I was going to order some dwarf rainbows from them but two things stopped me:


WE DO NOT SELL SEXED FISH OR SHRIMP. Please do not ask us to send you pairs or certain sexes of animals, we do not offer this service. If you require a pair of fish/shrimp, then we highly suggest that you order more than you need in the event there are losses in your shipment anyway.

If they can't be bothered to sex fish, especially when it's an absolute necessity for certain species, then I can't be bothered to order from them. Especially the wording regarding the losses in shipment, it leads me to believe it's a regular occurrence.

In addition, the high shipping costs (which aren't really AZG's faults) makes it cost prohibitive.

I think that would be an awesome idea! I know for someone like me who is hesitant to order anything online in the first place would greatly benefit from some user reviews of various sites :D
 
Please stay away from this place one and all. They are really a terrible place to deal with and I do not understand what their problems are. We ordered last week some SAE's, some Olive Nerite Snails, and some Pygmy Rasboras. All arrived alive and well unlike the order my son had placed prior to this that had some dead fish in it. Well, we have two tanks...we do not have a quarantine tank....I know shame on me. However, when we placed the rasbora in the tank a couple died immediately...almost. We thought we probably had a problem with PH in the tanks. Maybe it was a bit too high for these fish. However, one of the ghost shrimp died after eating on one of the dead fish that we didn't get out of the tank fast enough. Hmmmmm......then a couple died in the other tank. Again we figured it was a PH problem. We were too stupid to realize that something was wrong with those fish. We have lost everything in the tanks which had been in those tanks for months. Nothing exotic, but still they were enjoyed and they were our fish.

I had emailed these people about a tracking # when I placed the order. Three days after getting the order they send me a tracking #. A bit late I would say. Today I have emailed them three different times on my problems and the fact that all of our fish our dead because they sent out diseased fish. No response. I tried callling and no answer.

I am about to issue a chargeback on my charges for these people. They have one more day and I am starting it. I might not get anywhere, but I am going to cause them problems if I can. They are not going to steal my money and get away with it very easily. So STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE.
