Anything from 6 to 8.

Whats your tap ph? Its best to stick with what you have, rather than try to mess about it with it to reach a so-called 'perfect' ph.

Most fish will adapt well to your ph, however in fluctuating ph a fish will soon become ill as it tries to adjust each time the ph changes.

Ive had rams with acaras with no problems before, but yes it is dependent entirely on the personality of the acara as to whether they would have a go at the rams, in a large enough tank with plenty of plants, caves and reducing line of sight, you should be ok.

the tap water is very hard
it is about 7.5-8 and hav heard that a lot of fish like soft water
