I was looking at buying a plug timer to turn the light on/off everyday

I wondered if it would be possible to get one that you can set to turn on at 7:30, switch off at 14:00, back on at 17:00 and off again at 22:30

Or can you only get them to turn on/off once per day?

I have a digital one from Asda which allows you to have 4 different on/off times over the course of a day so yes you can

I have a cheap simple one and i can make the lights turn on and off as often as i like

I think the majority will do this. The old fashioned ones which look like a boiler timer with the swivel bit and pointer you move up and down. Or go digital

I must check asda out! Last time I went I couldn't see them! But I did the time before that lol should have got it then!

Agree with SensesFail. The old fashioned ones have little switches all round the timer. Each one is for a 15 minute period. You just push any of the switches down for the time period you want the lights to come on.
Must have a look at the electronic ones! Love gadgets.

You can get extension leads with timer switches in but have never tried them.
They have some great ones for sale in US for marine setups but have not seen them here.

Just buy the simplest and cheapest one I got mine for 1,50 euro and no problem, if you get a more expensive one and digital the more complex the more likely it can break

I found my automatic timer to be pretty noisey, the tank is right next to the bed though..
I guess it was just the timer ticking away but it annouyed me (it was a cheap automatic timer mind).

I got mine from B&Q and theres little segments you can have either up or down. So that would be useful for you as you could have it come on and off as much as you liked during the day etc.

I got the set of three digital timers from argos Argos Timer Link

I only needed 2, one for lighting and the other for air pump, but got three instead as a package, though it might be useful in the future sometime

I have a digital one & an old fashioned dial type one.

Old fashioned is the way to go.

digital one's are not same, at least the one i'm using. It has a battery backup. I think when i first used it, the instructions were to leave it charged for 12 hours and then programme it and use the hell out of it

Ah pretty sweet, it's annouying having to re-set the timer every time i do a water change..
I'll have to look into getting a new timer Thanks
