Tank been set up for a few month now, just watching my fish and noticed the distinct sign of my female auratus holding (jaw looks pretruded at the bottom) so I sat watching her for a while and sure enough she is holding, I can actually see the eggs in her mouth, she is hiding in a quiet area of the tank with her mouth opening and shutting constantly,

i have bought a tropicaquarium 68 15 gallon tank to transfer my auratus so she can spit her fry naturally has this is my first holding female

the new fry are in the holding net in my fry tank to grow on for a couple of week's before being released with my auratus fry has they would be eaten.

Looking good mate, always like the auratus fry, great colours on them from an early age.

amazing that those Auratus color up so quickly at two weeks. My yellow labs didn't show color until about 2 1/2 months

has soon has the mother spit them from her buccal cavity you could make out the lines and colour, but over 2 weeks they have coloured up nicely and are very active in the tank, also a few Metriaclima Patricki 'Jalo Reef' fry have escaped from there holding net and are happily swimming around with the auratus fry :)

well i stripped the tank to catch my 2 holding females a Labidochromis Caeruleus and a Cynotilapia Afra 'Chiwindi' to move into my fry tank and on closer inspection both my Cynotilapia Afra 'Chiwindi' are holding one has fry so i stripped her and got 21 baby Cynotilapia Afra 'Chiwindi' and moved the other 2 holding females into the fry tank,

also i have bought a grow on tank a fluval roma 90 and moved all the fry from my fry tank into there new home took me well over a hour has they are very fast to catch them
