About how long does it usually take a Ricordea to attach to a rock by itself? Can they be attached manually?

Hi Kat
My Riccordeas came attached to rock but I have seen my Riccordea split itself in two and a mushroom in my tank move itself in a matter of a day or two so they move and attach themselves to objects very quickly

hopefuly the ric will have a small sliver of rock on the underside. Get some super glue gel, glue on sliver of rock & attach to small lump of tank rock, then submerge & glue will set. Then position in tank. If no sliver of rock, place ric in small tub with smallish lumps of rock on tub floor, then place tub in tank in low flow area & ric will start to stick to rubble after few days'ish.

Wouldn't bother trying to glue honestly... Generally doesn't work well with mushrooms and related corals because of all the slime they produce. I would just find a quiet (low flow) place for it and let it attach by itself. As simonas said, usually takes 2 or 3 days.

The above method will work & I have used this approach as few times before with great success. There will be times when the ric will come loose, but only if the glue didnt have time to set or not enough glue was added. Obviously if the base of the ric has no rock, then the above approach wont work, and then low flow area on rubble & the base of the ric will eventually attach to the rubble & then the glue method can be applied.

Dark stranger is our ric guru, if you are in doubt then just check out his web site :good:

Nice to see you back here DS, don't be a stranger :p

As nemo said, if the ric doesnt have any substrate attached, glue is unlikely to work, the low flow and substrate works well
