At Times This Hobby Is Unnecessarily Exspensive

I really cannot fathom buying bogwood. I get nice bits like this for free. Straight from peat bogs on my Granda's farm.

Where did you buy those???? Glowlights are like $1.99 at petco and GBR are $5.99 at petsmart!!! $32 cuts what you spent in half!!

I dont like how much stuff costs, imagine this $8.50 for 1 cardinal tetra. What would you say when I told you that was at my LFS. Then $6 for 1 rummynose.

I'd say they had better be young, in good health and real troopers!

handy if you happen to have a bog in the family , most wont though .....

Wood is ridiculously expensive in Lfs's
Most things are as soon as the word aquarium is put in front of it.
You can pick up bargains elsewhere.
Dunelm sells Mopani wood for £1.99, smaller pieces though

it can only get worse for online shopping with the price of postage going up so massively. I try not to buy online and try and support my lfs

It's going to knock a lot of online sellers.
I always try & support my Lfs, I have only 1 independent near me & luckily it's a good one

At least the sand was cheap... o_O
Hmm, I never did check prices on bogwood, but I find plants expensive. I could get them cheaper off the plaza (although I dislike the way they treat their fish there, unlike the pet shop, so I cannot be sure if those plants are disease-safe. Could quarantine them in my storage box though but that won't be good for the plants).

I understand the price of plants if grown by a certain company. I have always found Tropica plants of very high quality and pest free. The trouble comes whit independent sellers trying to sell online at tropica prices.

Well, these plants are grown by Coralis pet shop, and by the looks of that first one I've bought... not really worth the price. It ended up in a better state than I got it.

Try to get the new housing. THe old housing sucks. I spent 4 years living in a 900 square foot home with a family of 5

:p lol you told me that already. We are in some really small housing now. I only have 6 fish tanks because my dresser is strong and I got rid of a couch. What was the housing area name, do you know? I can try to avoid it.

I have been going to my lfs for years now even when I didn't have fish and knows one of the managers really well and they give me great discounts. For instant I got the Fluval edge for 70 quid instead of 100 so for me it's quite cheap.

Sorry to burst your bubble but I think £70 is the RRP for the 23 litre Fluval Edge?
