Arggggghhhh!

well aquatics onlin has the Eheim Aquaball 2210 for £13.99, going to purchase that... where did i put that visa card...

am thinking at the same time,I need to purchase an Eheim Professional 2224 external for my 4 ft tank, might as well add that on now and get free postage.

awwwwwwwww poor fishy!!

hope he gets better soon.

When my fish have been injured I add some salt to the aquarium, it's a mild disenfectant and perks them up and helps them to heel. My Oscar got a nasty cut on his head a while back (think he was trying to fight a rock  ) and it sorted him out :)

BUT I know it can be really bad for some fish (not sure which ones) so I'd not recommend doing it unless you check all your fish in the tank can cope with it.

Like others have said, I would use diluted Melafix or bettafix if you have it on hand. If he is the only inhabitant in the tank, or his other tank mates can handle it, salt is a great anti fungal, so I would add that too. Make sure to keep his water very clean, water changes every day if the tank is small is probably a good idea.

My male angel got stuck behind a piece of slate trying to rescue some wigglers not too long ago. He looked almost exactly like your betta and he recovered completely. I used some Melafix and water changes every three days.

Good luck, I hope he gets better soon.

i just got some melafix yesterday. my betta is eating now, but only like 1/4 of what she usually eats. i used 1 ml for 2 gallons of water, which is normal dosage. how can i get like half a ml? do you know how many drops per gallon it is? is this stuff safe for plants and shrimp? i put some javamoss in her container because i thought it would help and i want to stick a ghost shrimp in there just incase there is excess food. i posted the pictures of the cave.

don't know for most of that, not used melafix.... but you can get little syringe's from LFS's which are 5ml's and it's easy enough with them to get a half a ml dose :)

I really would dilute it a bit. You could add 1 ml to 5ml of water, then use 1ml of that in the tank. I have a measuring spoon that is called just a pinch, I sometimes use that to do small doses of medication. Alternatively, as Melafix is really a natural medication, you could put just a few drops in. Some, not all bettas do not react well to full doses of Melafix.

Melafix is completely safe for plants and I am pretty sure for shrimp as well. Your betta may snack on the shrimp if it will fit in her mouth, though.

Some medicine dosing cups have .5 mL such as Tylenol and Benydryl. Might try looking around in the medicine cabinet.

i vote for a 1ml med 1ml water, mix, 1ml mix = 0.5ml med method.
