different pairs of dwarf cichlids in a 33 gallon tank?

namely cockatoo, pelvicachromis taeniatus and apistogramma panduro

Pelvicachromis taeniatus is a fairly agressive cichlid. They will dominate the entire tank. Apistogramma cacaouides are somewhat agressive when breeding. I havent the lsightest clue about Panduro though. I would assume, if you have enough caves, you should be able to keep a pair of cacaouides and paduro's together.

I would say no to keeping all three in there - just not enough floor space for territory for each fish. I've been told that an apisto female will often defend a 12 inch square from other fish. So with a trio of those each female would take up a third of the footprint each

If you wanted to mix the 2 types of apisto it is better to get a trio with 1 male and 2 females to cut down stress on the females. I've been told that an apisto female will often defend a 12 inch square from other fish. I was contemplating doing a similar thing in my 30g and the general advice was it could work possibly if you have lots of places to hide but personally I chose to do just 1 pair of cichlids and have then started to build a "community" around them. The main risk would be that if they started breeding your going to get a lot of aggression issues if they stray into each others territory.

Personally I would play it safe and get a trio of the Panduro, beautiful females and not sure but you might get away with 4 of them 1M 3F and then add a "dither" school and a rubberlip plec or maybe even 2?

The rule about 12 inches of floor space per apisto is a pretty good one, I've been quoted it before. Floor space is everything. Whats the dimensions of the tank?

Certainly no to all 3 imo, depending on floor space maybe two pairs of apistos.

thanks guys =]

I wasnt going to have all three just the cockatoo and either the panduro or the taeniatus =]

the taeniatus seemed really docile at work...hmmm are kribensis any worse? Hongsloi?

soon im going to have a very heavily planted tank with a lot of rocks

80 cm W x 35 cm D x 50 cm H are the dimensions, i heard that they only breed in soft acidic water and mine isnt particularly acidic....

Pelvicachromis taeniatus is a Krbiensis. It's just a color variation. Same temper. Kribensis are fairly agressive, and have been known to hunt and kill other fish ( I've seen it happen before ).

is that both sexes?

and can females of the variants i mentioned above be kept together?

No to all three, but you could be 2 pairs of Apistos

Nope, the females are aggressive too. In my OP, the females can be just as nasty, or worse than the males.

I have now 2 female kribs and they are doing well they are getting along well with the ram

so adding a female of another species such as panduro would be a big no?

They are getting along for now, but just wait. The dominant female krib will take over the tank. How long have you had them?

a fair few hours now, ive been watching them, any signs of bad behaviour and ill move them asap!

Why didn't you listen? A few hours doesn't give them time to become aggressive. In a couple days all hell will break loose. You really should have listened...

okay ill move the ram

sorry i just thought that if you didnt try you would never know, trial and error
