Please help.

I have numerous fish that appear to have white swollen lips. I also have a fish which i am certain has dropsy. Most importantly i have an angelfish which is breathing heavy and does not seem apply to swim properly.

I have tested for ph, nitrite, nitrate and ammonia and all are absolutely fine / zero.

I have carried out an emergency 25% water change (in addition to my usual maintenance 10-15% per week using a syphon gravel cleaner to remove the water) and i am also providing more aeration into the water.

Whilst a appreciate it is very difficult without seeing the fish - any advice on what treatment you would use that will not be harmful to my biological filteration (eheim external filter).

Do they look fluffy, or whispy strings on them?

The ones with dropsy should be separated immediaty. Maracyn-Two says it treats Dropsy, however there is usually not much hope for fish with dropsy.

NOTE: If in fact you do have a bacterial problem in your tank, it will mess with your biological filtration some because you are trying to kill off a bacteria infection.

Thanks for the info.
I am not too concerned about the fish with dropsy as i know regardless of what medications claim to do, dropsy is pretty much untreatable.

The white lips just look swollen. There is definately no "cotton wool" or similar appearance that would suggest a fungal problem.

I would add a bacterial med to the tank.
Good luck.
