I bought some plants the other day,now i'm not sure if they are aquatic...
heres the pics, this first one is a grassy one(sorry dont know what they're called, but its starting to turn yellow...

And this stripey one look has though the ends are decaying, unless the gouramis have been munching...

Any help appreciated
Thanks

The second pic looks very similar to a non-aquatic plant I came home with from my first plant purchases, thankfully IDed by the "plant section" members and helped me sort out some true aquatics. ;)

Think its name began with "d" (very helpful!

Both non-aquatic unfortunately. I've bought both of these in the past too.

Can't remember the actual name of the first, it was labelled as 'fountain plant' or something when I got it. 'Dracena' of some sort for the second.

i also got both of these plants before, the first started yellowing in days of putting in the tank whilst the other i threw away almost immeditely as i realised through search the internet it was certainly not an aqautic plant, (also i thought it looked rather vulgar against the other plants i had in there  )

So it is a general practice for lfs to sell things that would die pretty fast to the customers. I was sold a Dracena as an aquatic plant recently and was told that it is a perfect plant since it does not turn brown and ugly in my tank (I took it out per advice from Jamepass). By the way the guy who told me that, is the MANAGER of the fish section at a local Petsmart!!!!! There should be a "National Day of Sitting Down and Actually Reading Fish/Plant Related Articles for LFS Employees."

I am soooo glad I saw this post!! I have the plants in the 1st pic, bought from a semi-local fish shop. This is one that in a previous post I explained had an offer for 25 fish for a offer price, then when I went to buy them kicked up a fuss and said they recommend buying them in groups of 10 not 25! haha!
Anyway I will be taking it out of my tank when I get home!

The thing is, these plants can be used in Vivariums and Terrariums, and live quite happily. They are sometimes used by people for short term use in planted tanks, because they will last a few weeks. This is why you'll see them in LFS.

Thanks everyone :good:

I have now removed said articles from my tanks :grr:

If the lfs was local i would take them back, but i popped in here when out n about 20 miles away :sly:
