Are Rubber Sheets Aquarium Safe?

I want to put a background on my 2.5 gallon tank, but my betta continually flares at the reflection created by dark posterboard. so i have this idea of using a thin rubber sheet inside the aquarium along the back wall.


the place i have in mind right now is rubbersheetroll.com. any thoughts? the thinnest sheets they have are .032 inches thick. they sell rubber with adhesives and without. im assuming adhesive rubber would be toxic so im planning on buying just the standard rubber.

I don't know about the toxicity of pure rubber, but e-mail the company to find out if they use recycled rubber. Recycled rubber can have tons of toxins in it

I'm guessing because the betta is flaring at his reflection in the glass, so the glass will need to be covered up to stop this.
I don't know if rubber is safe or not, but I'd say there's a good chance not and I wouldn't be using it until I was 100% sure

the rubber on the back would create a reflection just like posterboard. my betta goes crazy over it... but heres a new idea. i happen to be building a pond in my backyard and i literally just bought a lot of liner. im not sure, but im guessing i'll have a little extra. pond liner has to be fish-safe correct?

If its safe for pond fish it should be fine, will you be sticking it on with aquatic silicone

Since latex paints are safe, I would imagine latex itself would be safe. If you can get it. It's almost rubber.

latex IS rubber.
aside from that, id leave the tank as it is. he will soon become bored of flaring at the reflection. why not just get a bunch of live or silk plants and plant them along the back to break up the line of sight? just a thought.
