Hi. So a new shop has opened nearby and walking round with my other half and she fell in love with some spotted mollies. I was wondering if they would be suitable with my tank atm
The stocking as it stands is:
5dwarf chain loaches
6 hengeli rasboras
And 2gbr's
Thanks in advance

what size and dimension is your tank first of all?

Think you should be ok with just a few mollies in that tank.

thanks a lot.
i'll clearly look into them a lot more before commiting just wondered if i could and if so how many to start with

I'd only get a couple as mollies can get to 3" if you don't want fry then get just males

how many would you reccomend
how can i tell if they are male/ female

Depends on species of Molly but I think its generally at 1 male for 2 females or get 3 of the same gender.

All males if you do not want any fry.

Would not put in any more than 3 mollies in your tank, thats you fully stocked IMO, with 5x loaches, 6x rasboras and 2 GBR's.

ok so i followed Ch4rlie's advice and only got three of them
this morning i woke up to 5 lil fry :)
luckily i still have a small tank set up so will move them across when i get home :)

That does happen sometimes when you get female mollies or guppies, that they may already be pregnant when you get them from LFS! :/

Did say to get all males if you don't want any fry.

If you don't want the fry, you could leave them in tank, other adult fish will eat them given the chance, or as you say move them to a small tank for the moment.

Good luck with that.
