Can anyone recommend an aquatic plant that can be used with an open top - one that will grow higher up on my bogwood and perhaps flower out of water?

Also i want a nice floating plan - a small one suitable for a small aquarium. Any ideas?

Thanks!

My Amazon swords sends out shoots to the top of the water and flower outside and then every flower eventually turns into a cluster of plants.....

not sure about flowering plants, although there are some lilys that you can get.
a nice floating plant could be riccia, salvia natans, amazon frogbit, water lettuce.

good luck

I believe amazon frogbit can flower but maybe not in the home aquarium.

tiger lotus/ spatter dock (not sure if it flowers but looks good) water hyacynth is a flowering floater water lettuce again not sure if flowers but floats ive got these and they all look good and all grow to the top of the water, tiger lotus (bulb plant) gets nice decent sized deep red leaves and sends shoots to the surface , spatter dock (bulb plant) gets big bright lime green leaves and grows to the top of the water and more ive got another bulb plant its like the tiger lotus but green leaves and that does the same sends shoots to the surface and creates pads and flowers but i cant think what its called i will post some pics on for you in a bit

Echinodorus tenellus, sagittaria subulata and anacharis (elodea modern name) all flower this is why I have only bought these plants and actually known what they are whilst purchasing. My current aquarium project is to grow dracaena sanderiana out of the tank (already planted these) and have sagittaria subulata and echinodorus as a grass like plant which shoots flowers to the surface.
