Aquarium Salt With What Fish?

I know balloon mollies do well with a teaspoon of aquarium salt per gallon (or whatever the directions will say)

But do Fancy Guppies, Cory Catfish, Upside down catfish, and Apple Snails do well with it? What about an African Dwarf Frog?

If/when I buy the salt, is there anything I should look for in particular?

I agree that Robert T. Ricketts' article, "The Salt of the earth... the salt from the sea," listed there is essential reading on this topic. I had the good fortune to online chat and exchange emails with "RTR" years back. When it comes to fishkeeping in tanks, he is as expert as anybody I have run across in person, online or in print. His advice is absolutely priceless. He is one of the few hobbyists out there I can say the following about without any equivocation "Whatever he suggests you do, do, Whatever he warns you not to do, don't do."

Don't use salt at all with corys. It will really damage them.
You don't NEED salt.

Unless you have a marine tank or you are using the salt for medicative purposes or you are using it to clean tank ornaments outside the tank, then it is not needed and should never be used. Tbh, I wouldn't even bother with it for medicative purposes, a nice big water change and daily water changes for a week or so does wonders for treating wounds and curing/preventing illnesses.
