can u get it in a normal hard ware or do ya get it in the lfs

how much should it be

is slate from the garden centre tank safe too i want to create some caves for my fish

You usually have to go to your LFS for sealant; most of the stuff they sell in DIY stores has fungicides in it. It's quite expensive, but it depends what you need it for. I paid about £4 for a small tube to seal a leak in one of my tanks; if you wanted to re-seal a whole tank it would be more (but less per ml, if you know what I mean!)

Slate from the garden centre, however, is normally fine. Just look it over to make sure it's got no metallic-looking veins running through it, and soak it, maybe in a salt solution, for a few days before rinsing well and using; just to kill off any snails or fungus or anything like that that may be on it.

If you can find one in the hardware store without dyes or fungicides, then it is the same stuff. The stuff in the LFS is normally marked up 3 or 4 times what a hardware store will list it for.

the silicon is to stick the slate together to create the caves is that the stuff i use or is it somethin else

Hello,

I get mine from the local glaziers.. Aquatic safe for £4.50 for a 310ml cartridge.
