Aqua One Wet/dry Tickle Thingy

Ben if you wouldn't mind posting me some pictures that would be very much appreciated xx

No problems, I'll post them here. I wont get chance to do it until tomorrow evening though, but I'll be sure to do it then.

sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your Aquaone.

I have 2 and they are brilliant. I keep a slice of foam media over the top of the return shoot to stop any crud ending up back in the tank. I clean my 2 filter compartments (alternately) every 2-3 months and replace or wash a peice of fine wool off the top every water change.

Great advice Doresy thank you

Do you remove the entire filter section? The reason I ask is that I can't figure something out. The power head when fitted only comes through the bottom, you can't get it through the top, so I would have unwire the plug from the cable tidy and feed it back through the power head hole and keep it hanging out the tank to not get wet - correct? Or, would it work, putting the filter media or one of those bags that comes with a gravel hoover, over the outlet holes and literally just tipping the whole filter unit right to empty the tray of water. So how do you clean yours? Also, where does the water level on yours come to? And finally, what is that massive green ring round your power head?!!

Well,

I finally got round to taking a few pics, so here they are:

1a] Filter intake pipe, almost in plan view. You can see where I have cut out both the seating for the powerhead & access to the rear of the tank.

1b] Same again from a lower angle, shows more perspective.

2a] Filter return pipe, again in kind of plan view. This was a little more fiddly as the constraints on the size of the hole makes it considerably smaller.

2b] Same again from lower angle.

3] Finally, as close a rear shot as I could get, although the gap looks large in reality it is a maximum of 1ft - 15inches away from the wall. You cant see this unless your head is flat against the wall.

Sorry for any mess/state of the piping etc (BTW that isn't the colour of the water just algae growing on the inside of my stupidly clear pipes). I'm not much of a housekeeper!

Very impressive! Fancy popping round to do mine? haha

OK, so now I'm about to put my head in the tank and drown myself. The new replacement impeller is working, in theory - the motor is going, but it's not intaking water at all. I don't know what else to do! It's set up properly, it's going, something just isn't right. I am sick of putting my hands in the water, they are so sore now. I keep having to take the filter media out of the bucket that has tank water in it and trying out the filter, it doesn't work, putting it back in the bucket, messing about with the filter again. I've done this over and over. I rung some local maintenance guy, but of course he's out for the evening now. What else is left for me to try now? I feel really deflated over this - all I did was clean my tank and now it's just opened a can of very depressed worms :(

I'm really confuseed by you discriptions. Can you post photos of you filter set up?

Don't worry Doresy. I've sussed it out now.

OK, daily report - I've taken the heater out of the cable tidy, because it was the only thing left in there, given it an indepdendant plug and guess what... now it doesn't work?!!! The magnet on one side of the cabinet door has stopped 'magnetting' too this morning.

I've been cursed. How those fish are coping with all this upheavel, I'll never know... bless them, what troopers!

God I'm such a [insert swear word here]

The replacement impeller was working fine, I just put the spray bar back on the wrong way round and obviously one has a stopper in, which stopped the water getting through.

Replaced my heater, that was all fine - took the broken heater out, and guess what - it was working. Duh.

I have now ceased taking the stupid pills and have resumed my course of clever pills.

You live and learn eh?!
