Just wondering if anyone know how much sand i would need for my Aqua One Regency 80 tank?

depends on a couple of things

footprint of the tank (dimensions)
Type of fish you are keeping
Any plans to added rooted plants?

Its 80W x 40D

I currently have a few plants in small tubs but will be getting more after changing from gravel to sand and i have a mixture of platys mollys guppies, a pleco and dwarf puffer fish.

Use this http/www.aqua-calc.com/calculate/gravel-rectangular-solid to help you out. You can change the parameters easily. But given your dimensions and wanting around 3cm of depth for fine sand it would be around 20kg
